but can be great with family members and excellent with children.

when young.
Care and Training: The Best Environment for the Chihuahua
Chihuahuas can live good, well-rounded lives in small
apartments or in a larger home. Their small size does not negate their
need for adequate daily exercise, and they benefit from not only indoor
and outdoor playtime but a daily walk as well. They learn best with
positive reinforcement training methods and consistent feedback.
Grooming is essential for all Chihuahuas but the long haired variety
requires more care.
Origin: Where the Chihuahua Comes From
The Chihuahua was only recognized by the American Kennel Club
in 1904 in spite of the fact that it is the oldest American breed. They
originated in Mexico in the region from which they gain their name.
It's uncertain where their genetic roots truly lie but many believe they
are actually descended from the Fennec Fox. Chihuahua puppies were
first transported to Europe in the 1800s and continue to be a popular
breed in both hemispheres.
